World Beer Festival

The World Beer Festival makes it way through Durham on October 6th. This wildly popular event is hosted at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham. Get your tickets now to for unlimited tastings from dozens of breweries, as well as live music and educational sessions from industry experts.

Festival Flamenco at the Hayti Heritage Center

On October 13th, the Hayti Heritage Center will host the Festival Flamenco featuring Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, one of the nation’s premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies. This beautiful performance combines traditional dance with new cultural influences and features original choreography and live music.

Octoberfest Celebrations!

Octoberfest Celebrations!

You don’t have to be of German heritage to enjoy Octoberfest. But it doesn’t hurt to enjoy beer, pretzels, and maybe the occasional polka. The festivities are already underway at the Bavarian Brathaus in Durham. This eight week long festival includes live music on Friday and Saturdays and excellent beer and German food all week long. Tickets are available online.

Bull City Burger and Brewery is also hosting an Octoberfest celebration this Saturday, September 22nd from 4pm – 11pm. This family friendly event features the fresh, local fare BCBB is known for as well as their delicious brews. They are also hosting live music, children’s activities, and the first annual “Stack Cup” competition.

CenterFest Celebrates the Beauty of Art in Durham

On September 15th and 16th the Durham Arts Council will host the 38th Annual CenterFest Arts Festival, the longest running arts festival in North Carolina. This free event is held in downtown Durham and will feature 130 visual artists who work in a variety of mediums.

The juried art show is just part of the fun however, there will also be live music performances on five different stages spread across downtown. Dance troupes and other entertainers will also take the stage this weekend, so don’t miss your chance to see performances by flamenco dancers, cloggers, and tap ensembles.

A Day (or Two!) on the Farm with the Eastern Triangle Farm Tour

This September 15th and 16th the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association hosts the 7th annual Eastern Triangle Farm Tour. This event features 23 farms in the Triangle with products that range from fruits and vegetables, to cut flowers, meat, eggs, honey, wood products, and fiber!

To enjoy your day (or two!) on the farm by picking 3 – 4 farms to visit each day. Remember to factor in your driving time between farms and don’t forget to bring a cooler to store all of your fresh, local farm products. Tickets are $25 per car and are available online or in several of the Triangle’s grocery stores.
