4th of July Celebrations in Durham

Its almost time for parades, fireworks, and festivals celebrating the Fourth of July. If you’re planning on being in Durham for the holiday be sure to check out some of the great festivities in the area such as the Festival for the Eno or a Durham Bulls game.

The Festival for the Eno kicks off on July 4^th and will also feature events and family-friendly activities on the 7^th and 8^th.  This annual festival helps raise money for the preservation of Eno River and is hosted at a park right down the road from the Inn. There will be live music, a juried arts, and craft show, and water-based recreation activities. Check out our video below to get an idea of the fun everyone had at last year’s festival. If you stay with us for two nights during the festival we will provide two complimentary tickets to the Festival, just ask your innkeeper about the Festival for the Eno special.

If you’re looking for some all-American fun this 4^th of July catch a Durham Bulls game that will be followed by a fantastic fireworks display. Make a festive night out on the Fourth by visiting some of the great restaurants right next to the ballpark in the American Tobacco Historic District or nearby in Brightleaf Square.

Don’t Miss the American Dance Festival, One of Durham’s Premier Summer Events

The American Dance Festival (ADF) has called Durham home since 1977. This celebration of dance brings together dancers and choreographers from around the world to perform on Durham’s stages and has become an event that many look forward to every summer. Starting on June 14th the six and half week long festival features fourteen dance companies, some performing works specifically commissioned for the Festival.

Tickets are currently available for the ADF performances, ask you innkeeper to help you plan the perfect evening, from purchasing the tickets to making dinner reservations or arranging for a Dinner at the Inn.

Herb, Garden, and Craft Festival at Duke Homestead

Have your started your garden yet? If not here’s a chance to dig in and add some herbs, perennials, and annuals to put beauty and fragrance in your beds. This coming Saturday, June 9^th, the Duke Homestead will host their annual Herb, Garden, and Craft Festival featuring vendors that will be selling many varieties of herbs as well as flowers and vegetable plants. There will also be crafts as well as preserves and other handmade food items for sale.

The festival also celebrates Southern agricultural and crafting traditions and will feature several demonstrations as well as live music throughout the day. This family friendly event has free admission and will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
