March Events in the Triangle

Luck of the Irish and Those Who Pretend to Be- St. Patty’s Day Special
Stay at the Arrowhead Inn on Saturday, March 17th for a wonderful Irish treat. Start the celebration with our St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at 6:30 PM on Saturday, featuring all your traditional Irish favorites like Corned Beef and Soda Bread. Then join our chef for a cooking class on Sunday morning at 10:30 AM, since we finally coaxed Chef Phil to share his famous scone recipe which he will pass on to you and guide you through making scones of your own to take home and share (or keep for yourself!) Space is limited. Enjoy the Irish Feast for $45/person plus tax and gratuities, or the Irish Feast and the Scone Baking Lesson for $65/person ($130/couple) in addition to the room charges.

Make the Most of Your Farmer’s Market Bounty
Spring is just around the corner, and its time to start thinking about what will be in season at the farmers’ market. Scope out what the Durham Farmers’ Market has to offer on Saturdays or join the Southern Season Cooking School for their class on March 10th,  Farm to Fork: Shop the Farmers’ Market. Head out to the Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market with the instructor and take your local treasures back to the kitchen to whip up some seasonal recipes.

Pink Martini Brings International Flair to DPAC
On March 30th Pink Martini swings through Durham for a one night performance at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Known for their fusion of classical, jazz, and old fashion pop the 12 piece orchestra is led by vocalist China Forbes and pianist Thomas Lauderdale. Lauderdale describes the group as “a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure … if the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we’d be that band.” Tickets for this fantastic show are available through DPAC.

Bon Appetite Finds “One Rowdy Night in Carolina”

There has been a lot of buzz about the Triangle’s food scene recently in publications across the country. Bon Appetite has featured several restaurants from Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh in their past issues, but in their February 2012 issue they found another excuse to come back and enjoy all the delicious options that the Triangle has to offer.

Check out their article One Rowdy Night in Carolina and read about their experience at the Stir the Pot event that brought together chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, and entrepreneurs to celebrate the food of the South. Though its too late for you to experience Stir the Pot this year, you can visit Scratch Bakery, Fullsteam Brewery, or Vin Rouge, who were featured in the article. Come try out these establishments, and others, that have helped to put the Triangle on the map as a destination for fantastic food!

Vote for Your Favorite Places in the Triangle

Every year the Independent Weekly hosts the Best of the Triangle Contest to determine which places to eat, stay, and play in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are everyone’s favorite. At the same time The Durham Magazine runs the Best of Durham contest for several categories including Best Coffeeshop, Best Beer Selection, Best Gift Store, and Best Museum.

We are nominated for Best Event Space and Best B&B in the Best of Durham contest so if you think we’ve got what it takes to be number one please cast a vote for us. And if you’d like to vote for us in the Best of the Triangle’s Best B&B category we’d appreciate that too! Voting is not limited to Durham residents, so if you’ve visited recently and have memories of a favorite place feel free to cast your vote!
