Take Your Appreciation of Wine to the Next Level


For those who love wine or just want to learn more about it the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is hosting the Science of Wine. On the evening of February 9th, from 6 – 9 PM local wine experts will discuss a variety of topics related to the making of wine, pairing wine with food, and purchasing wine. Several of Durham’s finest food trucks will also be on site so you can test out your new pairing knowledge and savor some of the unique food truck fare. There will also be a separate children’s event, The Science of Juice. Don’t miss this great opportunity to explore the world of wine!

Carlota Santana Brings Flamenco’s Flair to the Triangle

Enjoy the rhythm and beauty of flamenco right here in Durham on February 11th. Renowned dancer and choreographer Carlota Santana leads Durham-based dance company, Flamenco Vivo in an evening of music and dancing at Duke’s Page Auditorium. Portlandia: The Tour Comes to Durham

Fred Armisen (of Saturday Night Live) and Carrie Brownstein (of Wild Flag, Sleater-Kinney) are bringing their hit comedy Portlandia to six cities, including Durham! If you’re a fan of this eccentric comedy you can’t miss their one night performance at the Carolina Theater on February 22nd.

Arts in the Triangle Presents the Ultimate Arts “To Do” List for Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill



Take a break from your everyday “To Do” list and check off some things you really want to get done! Like visiting the one-of-a-kind art venues in the Triangle. Cooking Classes at the Cookery and Southern Season

Perhaps your New Year’s Resolution was to cook more, or maybe you’re just looking for a few new dishes to mix into your cooking routine. Whatever the reason for expanding your culinary prowess the Cookery and A Southern Season’s Cooking School have many classes to help you learn new techniques and recipes.


Through February the Cookery is offering classes such as Making Fresh Brioche (January 10th), The Wonderful World of Chocolate (January 19th), and Sausage Making: The Basics of Grinding, Casing, and Cooking (February 11th).


The Cooking School at A Southern Season hosts a wide variety of classes that let students learn the basics of making Southern cooking staples such as biscuits and cornbread, or how to master international cuisines such as a Thai and Turkish. There are also courses designed specifically for couples and girlfriend getaways.

January Events in the Triangle


Spend an Evening with Local Jazz Legend Branford Marsalis

On January 13th and 14th jazz lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy the sweet sounds of three time Grammy winning saxophonist and Durham resident, Branford Marsalis. Marsalis, a Duke University Artist in Residence, and his quartet will perform in Reynolds Theater. Don’t miss this chance to see the Branford Marsalis Quartet right here in Durham.

Triangle Restaurant Week Serves Up the Best of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill

If you’re visiting the Inn from January 23rd through the 29th you’ll have the chance to enjoy the 5th annual Triangle Restaurant Week. This special event brings together restaurants from across the Triangle all of which will feature a special 3 course price fixe menu for lunch ($15) and dinner ($20 - $30). In Durham alone you’ll find menus that feature seafood, contemporary Mexican, or French cuisine, but with such a great price for lunch or dinner you can afford to explore many of the restaurants across the Triangle.
