On August 18th a stampede will arrive in the
Triangle. CowParade, the world’s largest public art exhibit, will be displayed
throughout Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill. The exhibit consists of 150
painted and costumed cows designed by local artists which will “graze” around
the Triangle for three months.
The CowParade exhibit visited Chicago in 1999 and has been
touring the world ever since, visiting 75 cities in 30 countries on six
continents. In each location the cows are auctioned off to raise money for
local charities. The Triangle CowParade will benefit the N.C. Children’s
hospital.
Durham’s Golden Belt will host the CowParade NC Round Up on
August 18th. From 10am – 4pm you can see over 80 of the cows, meet
their artists, and even design a mini cow to take home yourself. Even if you
can’t make it to the Round Up the cows will be around for a while, so stop by,
explore the Triangle, and find your favorite bovine!
