Modern Dance comes to Durham

Experience the abstract world of modern dance in the Triangle, and check out The Merce Cunningham Dance Company in two performances at the Durham Performing Arts Center, February 4-5.

Founded in North Carolina  in 1953, the company has broadened the public's awareness of modern dance for nearly three decades. Catch them in their final two performances in the state in what the Washington Post calls "an exhilarating rush."

The Company has forged a distinctive style creating new ways of human movement and its relationship with music. The group is made up of 14 dancers and perform in the original avant guarde style of Merce Cunningham, who is considered one of the greatest choreographers in the 20th century.

Enjoy a new type of entertainment, and head back to the comfortable Arrowhead Inn to complete your weekend stay.

Max Weinberg swings into Durham

This spring the Triangle will get a taste of the late night TV tunes.

Bruce Springsteen's longtime drummer and Conan O'Brien's Late Night bandleader, the Max Weinberg Big Band, hits the road with a swinging repertoire drawing on Count Basie, Frank Sinatra and even the Beatles and The Boss himself.

Weinberg and company hit the stage of the Carolina Theatre, Friday, February 4 at 8:00pm. Top off a night of great music with a stay with us at the Arrowhead Inn. Settle into our bed and breakfast for the weekend and enjoy a pre-theatre dinner.
